Meeting the 21st-century scholars where they live-on the Internet
In keeping with the evolving digital age, the Earl
Gregg Swem Library is providing more of its research and reference
resources online. Recently, Swem added 11 new digital databases,
including Academic Search Premier and Education Research Complete. The
new resources join the cadre of approximately 200,000 databases,
journals, electronic books and reference resources already accessible
through Swem’s Web site, swem.wm.edu. 
These online resources are available to the campus community 24 hours a day through the Web site as well as during operating hours in the library via WiFi or the campus network. The public, too, may access the materials while in the library building, opening a wealth of resources to the local Williamsburg Community—all free of charge.
The Swem Library has offered online resources for more than 10 years. All online resources are available from Swem’s home page through the online catalog, electronic journal finder, and database list.
“As William and Mary continues to provide more research opportunities for faculty and students, Swem Library wants to provide more online resources to meet those research needs,” states Pat Van Zandt, Swem’s Director of Research, Instruction and Outreach Services.
So that users can access the full potential of the online resources Swem regularly offers training sessions and staff are on hand during operating hours to be of assistance. Assistance is also available through the library’s Ask-A-Librarian online help service, accessible through Swem’s Web site.
