Meet a WMSURE Scholar: Jada Jones
Jada is a sophomore at the College of William and Mary, majoring in Business Analytics (Data Science) and International Relations. She intends to combine her love for global history, religion/spirituality, and public health for entertainment and educational purposes.
As a WMSURE student fellow, Jada has taken an active role in acting as a mentor and friend to our first-year students. During the summer of 2022, she worked closely with Dr. Janise Parker researching the decolonization of service learning in mental health fields from the perspective of women of color. Through this research experience, she learned about how important mental health professionals of color can advocate for and benefit K-12 students. While conducting research, she studied Linguistics and Africana studies abroad in Cape Town, South Africa. During her time abroad, she learned the importance of sociocultural linguistics and how language tells a story. In addition to being a William & Mary scholar, Jada is also a Monroe scholar. In the future, Jada strives to make a powerful impact on people’s hearts through personal and professional fellowship.
