History
The Joint Degree program offers an International Honours B.A. in History. St Andrews and William & Mary offer similarly demanding and prestigious history programs. Their specializations are different but complementary and of equally high quality. This gives you the opportunity to choose your specialization from many different areas.
St Andrews has great strengths in the study in medieval and early modern Europe. The history of Scotland, England, the British Empire, and Middle Eastern studies are also very strong.
William & Mary has a robust study of the history of early America, and nineteenth- and twentieth-century America and Europe. It also has strong offerings in early modern Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
You will also find your experience enhanced by exposure to two different pedagogical approaches. William & Mary's courses are lecture- and discussion-based. This contrasts with the traditional approach of small seminar-based Honours courses at St Andrews.
Your studies will culminate in a significant research project that demonstrates high-caliber scholarship.
