Coalition for Health Services Research Names Rossiter 2010 Chair
WASHINGTON, D.C. -The board of directors of the Coalition for Health Services Research has named Louis F. Rossiter, Ph.D., as its 2010 chair. The Coalition for Health Services Research is the advocacy arm of AcademyHealth, the professional association for those who conduct and use health policy research. The Coalition's mission is to build and advance the field of health services research.
"Lou is a leader in the field of health services research and a veteran of health policymaking," said Coalition President and CEO W. David Helms, Ph.D. "He is perfectly suited to lead the board through its priority setting and advocacy initiatives on behalf of the health services research community."
The coalition's 2010 policy priorities include fair and transparent access to information, increasing investment to support the next generation of health services researchers, broad-based and adequate funding for comparative effectiveness research, and accountability through a coordinating council for health services research.
Dr. Rossiter has more than 28 years experience as a professor in health economics and is currently a research professor at The Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy at The College of William and Mary. He previously served as Virginia's Secretary of Health and Human Resources, and was a policy deputy for the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services during the George H.W. Bush administration. He currently serves on the Board of Regents of the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.
