TJPPP Students in the News
Jack Cooper, MPP '14, is the first recipient of the Brenna Jean Vorhis Summer Internship Award.
The $4,000 award is in honor of Brenna, a first year student in the Master of Public Policy Program who passed away on January 10, 2013. The goal of this award is to honor Brenna's memory and passion for the program while assisting a student who accepts a summer internship position at an organization where meaningful, but unremunerated policy work is available. The recipient of the Vorhis Summer Internship Award will be announced at the Public Policy commencement ceremony in May of each year and each recipient's name will be engraved on a memorial plaque bearing Brenna's name that will be displayed in the Jefferson Program offices.
Jack's internship this summer is with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the environment was one of Brenna's passions. TJ Director, Sarah Stafford, states: "she wanted to work in environmental policy after she graduated".
Colleen Devlin, BA'13, is the seventh recipient of the Megan Owen Award. Each year two undergraduate students, one in public policy and one in government, are recognized for academic excellence in the graduating class. The award honors the memory of Megan Owen, BA '94, a public policy and government double major at the College.
