NIAHD is looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Resident Program Assistants (RPAs) for our Summer 2025 Pre-College Program.
Positions are available in either of the 2025 Summer Sessions:

What is the Pre-College Program?The Pre-College Program in American History is a fast-paced, in-depth, immersive college experience for high school students. Participating students take a W&M history class and earn 4 hours of college credit. Classes take daily trips to historic sites and museums, study college-level texts, write analytical essays, and participate in discussion seminars. Participants live in a dorm with other Pre-College Program students and their RPAs for 3 weeks. |
Position DescriptionRPAs live in the dorm and and serve to chaperone, mentor, and support high school students who are enrolled in NIAHD's Pre-College Program. RPAs assist with various program needs including helping with logistics on the daily site visits, driving vans, and planning weekend activities. |
Job RequirementsThis is a full-time responsibility for 3 1/2 weeks (4 days of training plus the 3-week Pre-College Program). Working as an RPA requires helping students, serving as a role model, and cooperating with the full NIAHD team. |
EligibilityRPAs may be graduate or undergraduate students, preferably with an interest in working with high school students and/or an interest in history. RPAs do not need to be history majors. |
CompensationRPAs are provided room and board for 3 1/2 weeks in addition to a competitive salary. |
