Biology Graduates Celebrate Milestone with Enthusiasm and Pride
On May 18, 2024, Kaplan Arena buzzed with excitement as nearly 200 graduates gathered for the Biology Graduation Ceremony. This diverse group of scholars, united by their passion for biology, included not only Biology majors but also Neuroscience majors, Environmental Science & Sustainability double majors, and interdisciplinary students who had crafted their own programs around the biological sciences. As they came together at 1:00 PM, their collective enthusiasm filled the arena, celebrating years of hard work and the promise of future discovery.
Adding inspiration to the celebration was the presence of Olivia Smith, a graduate student who had already achieved her Master of Science in Biology earlier this year.

Cornell Pre-Medical Awards: Brian Bao and Chitra Singh
Biology Leadership Award: Sydney Gordon (with research mentor, Dr. Shantá Hinton)
Distinguished Senior Award in Molecular & Cellular Biology: Miranda Bate (with research mentor, Dr. Mark Forsyth)
Distinguished Senior Awards in Organismal Biology: Julia Drennan (with research mentor, Dr. James Tumulty) and Alex Ferentinos (with research mentor, Dr. Matthias Leu)
Charlotte Preston Mangum Prize for Outstanding Research in Biology: Celeste Phillips (with research mentor, Dr. Mark Forsyth)
As the Biology Graduation Ceremony came to a close, the Class of 2024 stood on the threshold of a new chapter. With degrees in hand and a foundation in the biological sciences, they are poised to make their mark on the world. From advancing medical research to addressing environmental challenges, the possibilities are endless.
