Four Classical Studies majors selected for early induction to Phi Beta Kappa
Since its foundation by five William & Mary students in 1776, membership in the honor society Phi Beta Kappa has become a mark of academic excellence all across the country. At its fall induction ceremony this month, the Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kappa awarded early initiation to fifty members of the William & Mary class of 2022 on the basis of their academic record and faculty recommendations. Among those fifty were four Classical Studies majors: Camryn Claude, Jana Considine, Meaghan Corcoran, and Sydney Kennedy. This is an extraordinarily high number of inductees for a department of our size, providing more evidence (as if any were needed) for what we continually say at our graduation ceremonies: other departments may produce more graduates, but no department produces better graduates.
