Meet Professor Eric Arias
The William & Mary Government Department is thrilled to welcome Assistant Professor Eric Arias! Professor Arias was previously a postdoctoral research fellow at the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance at Princeton University. He also received a Ph.D. in Politics from New York University. His research interests include International Political Economy and Political Economy of Development.
Professor Arias along with co-authors include James R. Hollyer and B. Peter Rosendorff recently had an article published by one of the top journals in political science, the American Journal of Political Science entitled,"Cooperative Autocracies: Leader Survival, Creditworthiness, and Bilateral Investment Treaties" and can be found here.
This Fall, he is teaching Latin American Development and this following Spring he will teach International Political Economy. His favorite part about William & Mary so far is that, “the W&M community is extremely passionate about what they do”. Professor Arias also shared, "the most exciting part about teaching is trying to switch students’ minds from consumers of research to producers of research."
Welcome, Professor Arias, we are so happy to have you!
