Howard and Students on Attitudes Toward Poverty
The most recent edition of Public Opinion Quarterly features an article summarizing surveys on US public attitudes toward poverty authored by Professor Chris Howard along with three of his then-undergraduates, Amirio Freeman Class of 2017, April Wilson Class of 2016 and Eboni Brown Class of 2017. Their work found that Americans have a generally favorable view of the poor but are skeptical of government anti-poverty support. The article and its data can be found here.
