Denys Poshyvanyk to receive ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award
Denys Poshyvanyk and his co-authors, Simone Scalabrino, Gabriele Bavota, Christopher Vendome, Mario Linares-Vásquez, and Rocco Oliveto, will receive an ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award for their paper Automatically Assessing Code Understandability: How Far Are We? This paper will be presented at the 32nd IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE'17), to be held in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, USA, October 30 - November 3, 2017.
The paper presents a study of how well extant and new software metrics reflect how well code can be understood by software developers. The major contribution of the paper is that none of the metrics tested showed a significant correlation with software understandability.
