Congratulations to Winter Linguistics Graduates
Q. Did you enjoy your time at W&M?
Blythe: Yes, I've enjoyed my time here and I've very much enjoyed walking through the woods and listening to the birds and looking at Lake Matoaka with all the turtles.
Q. Did you have any high points here?
Lexie: I made a lot of great friends and I've enjoyed a field of study I hadn't known about in high school.
Q. Were there any linguistics courses that you especially liked?
Both: Phonetics and Phonology!
Lexie: It's something about the systematic way of figuring out how the phonetic changes occur in a language.
Blythe: And how something can be both technical, and in another way, how you interpret things, it's subjective as well.
Q. Are you glad you came to W&M?
Robin: SO glad I came to W&M! It was the perfect place for me. I actually only applied here. It was the perfect place.
Alia: I transferred here in the middle of my freshman year, and it was amazing how welcoming the people were here.
Robin: One hundred percent. I thought I was going to come here and be an Environmental Policy major and a future lawyer, but then linguistics caught my eye and I found out there was a lot you CAN do with a linguistics major.
Q. Was linguistics the right choice for you?
Alia: The Study of Language class was great. It was a great way to meet people.
