Cowing's Award Winning Paper
I’m very pleased to announce that Jessica Cowing’s paper, “Obesity and (Un)fit Homes: Health and Belonging in a Settler Nation” is the winner of the 2016 American Studies Association’s Critical Disability Caucus Graduate Paper Competition! A committee of disability studies scholars, including the renowned David Serlin, Julie Passanante Elman, and Kelly Fritsch, described Jessica’s work as “vibrantly interdisciplinary and social-justice oriented” and that they “loved the way it deftly combined American studies, critical disability studies, fat studies and postcolonial studies."
