Monarch caterpillar on milkweed. Photo by Courtney Celley, US Fish and Wildlife ServiceMonarch butterfly populations are in steep decline. A recent story published in the Daily Press features research by two Assistant Professors in the Biology Department. Drs. Harmony Dalgleish and Joshua Puzey are participating with a national effort that coordinates volunteers to gain data for conservation efforts related to monarchs and their host plant (species of milkweed, genus Asclepias). Dr. Dalgleish is continuing her post-graduate work in the fields of pollination ecology and conservation biology, teaming with Dr. Puzey, who brings expertise in plant physiology and DNA research.
