Kilgo Selected for Hyannis Sound A Cappella Group
Sophomore Music and Business double-major, Grayson Kilgo, was recently offered a competitive spot in the Hyannis Sound, a nationally-acclaimed all-male professional a cappella group based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. On campus, Grayson performs with The Gentlemen of the College (a cappella) and the Botetourt Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Jamie Bartlett. After successfully competing a lengthy audition process with over 60 candidates from around the nation this year, Grayson is the first William & Mary student ever to be admitted to the ensemble. There were four open slots in the group for the 2015 summer season. Grayson will be performing and touring with the group in Hyannis, MA from early June until the end of August.
Alumni and current members of the Hyannis Sound are from all over the United States and represent many different college and universities. Many alumni have had impressive musical careers, and some have appeared on America's Got Talent and NBC's The Voice. The Hyannis Sound was founded in 1994 as a small group of young men who wanted to sing on the Cape wherever possible, for all who wanted to listen. After years of work dedicated to establishing a seasonal professional music group, the ensemble began to establish itself as one of the best entertainment groups on the Cape. The Hyannis Sound releases a studio album every second summer (nominated for two 2014 CARA awards) and an annual bootleg album at the end of each summer.
