Computer Science Majors Elected to Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa is the highest academic honor awarded to liberal arts students in the United States. Membership selection is based on intellectual honesty and curiosity, careful scholarship, creativity, good character, and a commitment on the life of the mind. While members of the election committee do consider a candidates' grade point average during their deliberations, they give great weight to faculty recommendations to determine the depth and breadth of a candidate's academic endeavors.
Ethan Royce Roday and Aslyn Amber Blohm are the latest Computer Science majors to be inducted into the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.
Ethan's time at William and Mary has been well spent. In the true spirit of a liberal arts program, Ethan found time to pursue significant coursework in music while completing a double major in Computer Science and Linguistics. After graduation, Ethan will be headed to Seattle to work for Microsoft as a Program Manager at Bing Ads.
Aslyn will also complete a double major this spring. Her majors are in Computer Science and Mathematics with a concentration in Applied Mathematics. In 2012 Aslyn attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing with several other computer science majors. Aslyn is also moving to Seattle. She has accepted a position as a software developer for Amazon, a company she completed an internship with last year.
