Pianist and conductor to hold master class, perform concert
American pianist and conductor Stephen Drury will be holding a piano master class on Saturday, April 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ewell Recital Hall. He will be teaching four advanced music students from William & Mary’s Department of Music. The event is free and open to the public.
Drury will be in Williamsburg as part of the Ewell Concert Series. He will be presenting the “John Cage Centennial” program on April 13 at 8 p.m. at the Ewell Recital Hall. This concert is the last performance of the Ewell Concert Series this year, which has featured artists such as the violinist Sharon Roffman and pianist Anna Kijanowska
Drury has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Barbican Centre and Queen ElizabethHall in London, and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. He has held master classes at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Mannes Beethoven Institute, and Oberlin Conservatory.
Drury teaches at New England Conservatory, where he has created and directs the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice (SICPP).
The master class and the concert are free and open to the public.
