To culminate their first year in the program, the 2011-2012 cohort presented their final projects from the American Studies Seminar to the faculty and their fellow graduate students. The MA and MA/PhD students gave précis of their thesis research, and the PhD students read their intellectual autobiographies. From masculinity and the Super Bowl, to morturary rituals of white tenant farmers, the topics were varied and fascinating. The faculty and advanced graduate students enjoyed hearing the cohort's research and celebrating their hard work.
