2010 Graduate Offered Prestigious Position
Ella Diaz, who received her PhD in American Studies from William & Mary in 2010, has been offered a tenure-track position in English and Latino Studies from Cornell University.
Ella's research pertains to immigration studies, particularly in regards to Chicano/a and Latino/a visual and literary cultures, historical migration patterns and production in the twenty-first century diaspora. Her dissertation, Flying Under the Radar with the Royal Chicano Airforce: The Ongoing Politics of Space and Ethnic Identity, explores the intersections and tensions of ethnic identity and memory in mainstream consciousness and historical representation. For this project, Ella received The College of William and Mary's Distinguised Dissertation Award in 2010.
Ella is currently a visiting faculty member in Urban Studies at the San Fransisco Art Institute.
