Xipeng Shen Receives a DOE Early Career Research Award
Xipeng Shen is among 68 researchers selected to receive the prestigious Department of Energy Office of Science Fiscal Year 2011 Early Career Research Award. Awardees were selected from a pool of about 1,150 university- and national laboratory-based applicants, based on peer review by outside scientific experts. The five-year awards are designed to bolster the nation's scientific workforce by providing support to exceptional researchers during the crucial early career years, when many scientists do their most formative work. The research awards also aim at providing incentives for scientists to focus on mission research areas that are a high priority for the Department of Energy and the nation.
This $751K award will support Xipeng's research proposal, Data Locality Enhancement of Dynamic Simulations for Exascale Computing, which aims to enhance program data locality by developing new techniques that are tailored especially for the emerging features of Chip Multiprocessors to meet the new challenges in exascale computing.
