Best Student Paper Award at ITC 22
Lei Lu won the Best Student Paper Award for the paper "Fastrack for Taming Burstiness and Saving Power in Multi-Tiered Systems" at the 22nd International Teletraffic Congress (ITC 22), held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, September 7-9. The paper was co-authored with Andrew Caniff, Ningfang Mi, Lucy Cherkasova, and Evgenia Smirni. This award is conferred to the best paper whose first author is a full-time student at the time of submission and which is presented by the student. The paper acceptance rate this year at ITC was 28 percent. The International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) was created in 1955 by Arne Jensen initially to cater to the emerging need to understand and model traffic in telephone networks using stochastic methodologies, and to bring together researchers with these considerations as a common theme. Over the years, it has broadened its scope to address a wide spectrum ranging from the mathematical theory of traffic processes, stochastic system modelling and analysis, traffic and performance measurements, network management, and traffic engineering to network capacity planning and cost optimization, including economics and reliability for various types of networks.
