Acharya named CAA women's tennis scholar of the year
She's an ace
Ragini Acharya, '10, was recently named the Colonial Athletic Association women's tennis scholar athlete of the year.

The conference honors one Scholar-Athlete in each of its 22 championship sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and must meet the Academic All-America minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25. The winners were selected by a vote of the sports information directors at each CAA institution and are eligible for the overall CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
Acharya enjoyed a stellar career with the College, wrapping it up by winning the ITA Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year in 2010. The four-year Provost Award recipient won 17 matches while playing No. 1 singles for the Tribe this season. She finished her career with 102 singles, which ranks ninth in school history. Included in her career win total was 15 victories against nationally ranked opponents.
A four-year All-CAA selection in singles, Acharya earned first-team all-league honors during three seasons. She was also a two-time first-team All-CAA doubles selection and a three-time first-team VaSID All-State.
Following her senior season, she was named one of three finalists for the AEF Tribe Club Senior Female Athlete of the Year. During the summer of 2007 and 2008, Acharya won the ITA National Summer Singles Championship. She enjoyed success in the classroom throughout her career as well and won the Martha Barksdale Award, which is given to the outstanding rising William & Mary female student-athlete with a 3.25 GPA or higher.
