Rasmussen Awarded Professorship
Anne Rasmussen was appointed University Professor for Teaching Excellence for a three-year term beginning Fall 2008. The decision was made official at the Fall meeting of the Board of Visitors following an extensive review process involving evaluation by faculty, students, and alumni, a review of her materials, and observation of her teaching by two colleagues. In addition to her work as associate professor of music/ethnomusicology, Rasmussen has directed the Middle Eastern Music Ensemble for many years, served as the Professor for the William and Mary in Washington Program in Spring 2007 and currently serves as Chair of the Middle East Studies Faculty.
