About the Performers
Named "Traditional Irish Band of the Decade" by the Irish American News in 2011, the Brock McGuire Band is fronted by two of Ireland's most celebrated traditional musicians: button accordianist and melodeonist Paul Brock and fiddler Manus McGuire. The band also includes Garry O'Meara on banjo, mandolin and vocals; and acclaimed composer/arranger Denis Cary on piano.
Steeped in Irish musical tradition, the Brock McGuire Band seamlessly folds in elements from American old-time and bluegrass, French-Canadian folk style and Celtic traditions to create something accessible, beautiful, and entirely unique. This ability is exemplified in the band's most recent album, Green Grass Blue Grass, featuring 14-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs. American music critic Bill Margeson hailed the collaboration as a "masterpiece."
