Laura Wagstaff (first from the left) wrote her Honors Thesis on “The history and culture of the pipe organ in 18th century France”and received High Honors. She is majoring in French.

Rebecca Koppel (third from the left) wrote her Honors Thesis on “Rapid Eye Movement Effects on Traumatic Memories: A Test of the Working Memory Hypothesis” and received High Honors. She is majoring in French and Psychology.

Sara Black (first from the right) wrote her Honors Thesis on“The Emperor and the Duke: A Comparative Leadership Analysis of the Battle of Waterloo” and received High Honors. She is majoring in European Studies.

Laura Wagstaff - The McCormack-Reboussin Scholarship in French
In 1995, Mark McCormack, a benefactor of William & Mary (and a former French concentrator here himself), created a merit-based scholarship to financially support an outstanding French major at the university. The scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to a rising senior French major.

Graduation News

	Anne Flatin is a graduating French minor. She has received the French Government Teaching Assistantship and will be teaching English at the Académie of Lyon, France for the 2009-2010 academic year.
	Katherine Keally is a double major in French and Chinese. After graduation, she will be going to Taiwan to teach ESL for a year.
	Rebecca Koppel is a double major in French and Psychology. She was named Phi Beta Kappa this semester. She received High Honors for her Honor Thesis entitled “Rapid Eye movement Effects on Traumatic Memories: A Test of the Working Memory Hypothesis.” After graduation, she will be going to the University of Illinois at Chicago for a PhD program in Cognitive Psychology.
	Heather LeMunyon is a double major in French and International Relations. She served as a TA in the French section and will soon be moving to South Africa to foster community and political development.
	Caroline Lindsey is a double major in French and English. She received a prize for the best GPA in French and has made the Dean's List during every semester of college. She also completed two French-related Monroe projects. She will be attending Harvard Law School in the fall 2009.
	Hannah Perry is a French major. She is the recipient of the Oustinoff Prize for Excellence in Research. She spent a semester in Dakar, Sénégal in 2008 to study the arts and culture of this vibrant country and she plans to move to Dakar after graduation to teach English.
	Josie Rau is a double major in French and International Relations. She will enroll in a Masters Degree program in Peace and Conflict Studies in Sweden.
	Jonathan San is a double major in French and International Relations. Shortly after graduation, Jonathan will begin work at NBC in New York City as a member of their Page Program.
	Laura Wagstaff is a French major. She received High Honors on her Honor Thesis on the cultural history of the pipe organ in XVIII century Paris. She also received the prize for the best GPA in French. She was the recipient of the prestigious McCormack-Reboussin scholarship, a grant which allowed her to conduct independent research at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in July 2008. Finally, she was named Phi Beta Kappa this semester.
	Stephanie Warren is a French major and she was the recipient of the Howard Scammon Drama Prize this semester for playwriting.
