Meet our New Visiting Assistant Professor!
Servus! My name is Sabine Waas, and I am the new Visiting Teaching Professor of German Studies at W&M. I recently received my PhD in Germanic Studies at the University of Texas, Austin, and earned my Master’s degree in German at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa (Roll Tide). While growing up in Bavaria, I received my Bachelor’s degree in North American Studies and Communication Science at the Ludwig-Maximiliams-Universität in Munich. My research focuses on migration, sports, celebrity culture, media, and questions of belonging, representation, discrimination, and race. In my free time, I love to travel, to watch my favorite soccer team win (FC Bayern), to swim (preferably in the ocean), and to do yoga. I am excited for my time here at W&M and all the wonderful people I will meet (or have already met).
