The Trapnell Scholarship

For Rising Juniors who are majoring in French & Francophone Studies

The William and Maryse Trapnell Scholarship rewards the efforts of academically distinguished French majors with demonstrated financial need. Every year, to the extent possible, it is intended to fully pay all tuition, room and board, fees, books, and university-required electronic equipment for one outstanding student during their junior and senior years. The scholarship funds may also be used for an academic semester or year of study abroad in a rigorous university program recognized by the French & Francophone Studies program.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Candidates must be rising juniors.

• Candidates must demonstrate academic merit and already be the recipient of Financial Aid.

• Candidates must be French majors, and preferably not be native speakers of French.

• For AY 2025-26 and 2026-27 candidates must be in-state students.

To apply for the Trapnell Scholarship, complete this form (pdf) and email it to the French & Francophone Studies Program Director along with a copy of your transcript (please combine these documents into a single PDF file).

The application deadline for the Trapnell Scholarship will be announced to all students early in the 2025 spring semester.
