Yiyan Qiu holds an M.A. in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Beijing Normal University. Previously she taught Chinese language courses for novice level at Western Kentucky University. Ms. Qiu's international exposure, including two years of study in Japan, has enriched her intercultural communication skills and broadened her perspective. Her research interests lie in the professional development of teachers, particularly examining teacher beliefs and competencies. In addition to being the 2024-2025 International Fellow of the Chinese House, she will teach CHIN 111 Chinese for Heritage Speakers and CHIN 180 Chinese Calligraphy class.
