W&M Alum Featured
1st Lt. Emily Bessler '14 was featured in the Fay Observer article responding to the recent decision to allow female soldiers in combat jobs. Bessler was commissioned in 2014 and is now leading a team that provides fire support for the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team. She works in the fire direction center, which accepts data about targets from forward observers and translates them into data for howitzer crews to fire.
Approximately 25% of W&M ROTC participants are female. The W&M Military Science program is proud of all our participants, and we are excited about the opportunities that the recent decision will provide female recruits.
