Undergraduate Program
The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program offers a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. Our curriculum instills intellectual curiosity and rigor. It promotes critical thinking and respect for different cultures and worldviews.
In Med-Ren, students are treated as peer scholars and are invited to participate in the Program’s regular academic activities and events. We encourage independent, faculty-directed, and collaborative learning and research from an early stage.
Research opportunities for undergraduates are found in course papers, independent study projects, honors theses, and studies abroad. Our students are given opportunities to visit and study in Spain, Italy, France, England, Russia, Turkey, and Morocco. We organize an annual Medieval and Renaissance Studies Symposium on Undergraduate Research, which occurs in late March. Considering the interdisciplinary framework of our Program, most of our Med-Ren students obtain double-majors, which further enhance their careers. Our majors and minors often go on to M.A. and Ph.D. work at premier institutions in the United States and abroad.
