A group of William and Mary mathematics major students presented their summer research work in "Undergraduate Mathematics Conference in Washington", held at the George Washington University on April 21-22, 2012. This conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for undergraduate mathematics students to meet their peers, to exchange their research experiences, and to interact with other professionals in the field. This is a two-day event with presentations from students, keynote lectures, panel discussions on careers. It is a regional conference organized by The College of William and Mary, George Mason University, and the George Washington University, and the organizers are Maria Emelianenko (George Mason Univeristy), Svetlana Roudenko and Yongwu Rong (George Washington University), and Junping Shi (College of William and Mary).
This conference is closely related to the CSUMS workshops organized by both the College of William and Mary and George Mason University in recent years. Support for this conference is provided by the College of William and Mary, George Mason University, the George Washington University, National Science Foundation (NSF-CSUMS grants, awarded to GMU and W&M), and the NSF grant DMS-0846477 through the MAA Regional Undergraduate Mathematics Conferences program. Additional help is provided by the GW Mathematics Club. Prizes for the best presentations will be provided by WebAssign. Two keynotes speakers for the conference are Dr. Doron Levy from University of Maryland and Dr. Hans Kaper of Georgetown University.

Other presenters from William and Mary are Allison Oldham, Matt Becker, Keith Webb and Jeff Soosiah. All these students have been William and Mary CSUMS research group in 2010 or 2011. The Computational Science Training for Undergraduates in the Mathematical Sciences (CSUMS) project is a collaborative program between the Departments of Mathematics, Applied Science, and Computer Science at the College of William & Mary. It is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the period 2007–2012. The goal of CSUMS is to enhance computational aspects of the education and training of undergraduate students in the mathematical sciences and to better prepare these students to pursue careers and graduate study in fields that require integrated strengths in computation and the mathematical sciences.
