Kambis will become next Chair of Kinesiology Department
We are pleased to announce that Professor Ken Kambis has been appointed the new Chair of the Kinesiology Department at The College of William and Mary by Provost Geoff Feiss effective July 1, 2008.
In this new administrative post, he will promote the best interests of the department and its faculty, act as the liaison between the Kinesiology Department faculty and College administration and manage the day-to-day operations of the departmental unit. Dr. Kambis is a recognized expert in the field of altitude physiology and works closely with the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine's Thermal and Mountain Medicine Division (USARIEM) where he spends many of his summers conducting research at USARIEM's Pikes Peak, CO laboratory. As director of the Jack Borgenicht Altitude Physiology Research Facility located in the Department of Kinesiology, he works extensively with undergraduate students interested in environmental physiology research. Dr. Kambis received his doctorate and master's degrees from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his bachelor's degree from Catawba College where he attended on an athletic scholarship. He joined the faculty of the College of William & Mary in its Kinesiology Department as an Assistant Professor in 1986. Prior to that appointment, he held faculty positions at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and The University of California, Santa Barbara.
