Congratulations to Professor Abdul-Karim Rafeq! Brill has just published a Festchrift in his honor, entitled Syria and Bilad al-Sham under Ottoman Rule. Essays in Honour of Abdul-Karim Rafeq. A group of some thirty scholars from around the globe contributed essays to this collection, in recognition of Abdul-Karim Rafeq's distinguished career, and most especially of his prodigious and path-breaking scholarship. At the November 2010 meeting of the Middle Eastern Studies Association, the Syrian Studies Association will present Abdul-Karim with a copy of the book.
