Bio
Marie Pellissier works on the intersections of food and memory. Her dissertation will focus on the ways that food was a means of creating colonial identity in Williamsburg, Virginia, from the city's founding in 1699 to the present, as the city moved from the colonial capital of Virginia to one of the world's largest outdoor living history museums. Marie received her MA in Public History from Loyola University Chicago. While at Loyola, she was one of the co-creators of Explore Common Sense, a digital critical edition of the first British edition of Thomas Paine's famous pamphlet (www.explorecommonsense.com). Marie received her BA in History from Boston College. While there, she built a digital critical edition and online exhibit of the Elizabeth Capell cookbook, a late seventeenth-century manuscript cookbook from Boston College's Special Collections (https://mediakron.bc.edu/capellmanuscript).
