Nathaniel Holly received his PhD from William & Mary in 2019 upon defending his dissertation entitled "From Itsa'ti to Charlestown: The Urban Lives of Cherokees in Early America," under Professor Joshua Piker. His dissertation explored the lives of Cherokees as urban people living in an urban world, interacting with the new colonial world, and exploiting the power matrices of those colonial urban places. He took his BA in Philosophy at Clemson, an MA in American History (Cherokee Studies) at Western Carolina University, and began his doctoral studies at the University of Oklahoma in Early American Indian History.
Nate is currently Assistant to the Director and Editorial Assistant at the University of Georgia Press.
