Deadline
For Fall admission: For full consideration, submitted by December 5.
Applications submitted after the program's deadline may be evaluated at the discretion of the program's admission committee.
Spring Admission: No
Part-Time Students: Yes (M.A. program only)
GRE Scores
The History Department has opted to consider GRE scores an optional part of an application for admission. Not submitting GRE scores will not negatively impact your application. If you choose to include GRE scores with your application, use the following codes: American History, 2701; History, General, 2704.
Advice and Considerations
Applicants to William & Mary's graduate program in history should have at minimum a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, 24 college-level credit hours in history, and at least a B average; or they must have completed satisfactorily the first year of graduate work at an accredited college or university. Be sure to follow the instructions regarding transcripts on the How to Apply page, to ensure you properly submit official transcripts that reflect this minimum coursework.
