Background

Paula Pickering received her PhD from the University of Michigan. She specializes in ethnic politics, particularly in the Balkans; post-conflict reconstruction; democratization in Eastern Europe and post-Soviet Central Asia; and refugee politics. Her book, Peacebuilding in the Balkans: The View from the Ground Floor, was published by Cornell University Press. She is currently working on a monograph entitled The Impact of Lessons Learned about Western Intervention for Poltical Moderation in the Balkans.
