Background
Kathrin Levitan received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2006. She teaches courses on modern Britain, modern Europe, and British and European empire. Her book, A Cultural History of the British Census: Envisioning the Multitude in the Nineteenth Century, was published by Palgrave Macmillan Press in 2011.Research Interests
She is now working on a project on letters and letter writing in nineteenth-century Britain
