Resources for Research
Conducting and disseminating research is a central responsibility of tenure-eligible and tenured faculty in A&S. We support innovative and impactful research across the curriculum, including research with students.
Funding for ResearchIf you are a new faculty member, you may have access to start-up funds to support research-related expenses. Your department or program may also have dedicated funding for which you can apply. In addition, there are a number of other sources on campus to support faculty research:
|
Scheduled Semester Research Leave (SSRL)Research-active tenured faculty are entitled to a Scheduled Semester Research Leave every seventh year, starting the first year after tenure is awarded. Departments and programs each have their own criteria for determining eligibility for an SSRL. |
External GrantsThe Office of Sponsored Programs supports faculty applying for external grants, and manages grant money when it comes in. They welcome inquiries from new and established faculty. |
Research in D.C.The W&M Washington Center has a list of library resources in the D.C. area that are accessible to W&M Faculty. |
