The CS Department Welcomes Two New Faculty Members
We are excited to announce two new faculty members joining our department, including Antonio Mastropaolo and Yuchen Wang.
Antonio Mastropaolo
Dr. Antonio Mastropaolo received PhD from Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Switzerland, where he immersed himself in Swiss culture for approximately four years. Prior to this, he earned a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Software Systems Security from the University of Molise, Italy. Antonio chose to further his career by crossing the ocean and joining W&M as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Antonio's research focuses on software engineering (SE), specifically on automating SE-related practices such as bug fixing and program repair to improve the quality of software systems. His work has been recognized at prominent software engineering forums, including the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), the International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE), and Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), among others.
Yuchen Wang
Yuchen Wang earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University in 2024 and joined William & Mary in Fall 2024. He has eight years of experience as a network engineer and computer scientist at a leading international telecommunications company, where he played a key role in designing and deploying a nationwide Content Delivery Network. He also worked at Juniper Networks, enhancing the debuggability of security flows in the SRX Firewall series. His doctoral research focused on optimizing computer architecture and memory systems, particularly improving in-memory key-value caches. With a solid foundation in both industry and academia, he is eager to contribute to the teaching of computer science, bridging theoretical concepts with practical applications.
