Endowed Programs
Several exceptional past contributions from our donors have resulted in endowments, which generate yearly income to support the programs described below.
Virginia Brinkley Memorial Lecture
This annual lecture is delivered by an eminent scholar on Classical Greece or Egypt. The lecture is named in honor of Virginia N. Brinkley, distinguished alumna of the College. More.J. Ward Jones Lecture
This annual lecture, delivered by a distinguished scholar, is named in honor of Emeritus Professor J. Ward Jones Jr.Hogan Fund
Income from this fund allows the department to (a) offer a Hogan Prize grant to an entering student who has completed at least three years of Latin or Greek at the time of high school graduation and (b) co-sponsor, with the student Classics Club, the annual Hogan Student Lecture.Your contribution to the Classical Studies Department will help our faculty members provide the best learning experience to our students. We use the fund to support students' opportunities to study abroad, provide student scholarships, and supplement our curriculum with visits from distinguished guest scholars. We are also hoping in the near future to fund improvements to our departmental museum/library.
