Andrew Tobolowsky was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and got his Ph.D. at Brown University. Prior to teaching at William & Mary, he taught at Brown University and Georgetown University. His research and teaching focus on the Hebrew Bible, the history of ancient Israel, and comparisons with both the ancient Near East and the Classical Mediterranean. More broadly, his work explores how and why we tell stories about the past, and how these are shaped by what we want them to do.
