Student Employment
Chemistry regularly employs undergraduate students to assist in teaching laboratories, helping in the office and with summer research. These assistantships are good preparation for post-baccalaureate employment or graduate studies. We recruit student employees in our weekly department email and by posting information in the chemistry office (ISC1039) and outside the Lab Supervisor's office (ISC 1037).
Majors, in good standing, can become tutors for other chemistry students. At the beginning of each semester, the chemistry office curates a list of qualified chemistry majors who are willing to tutor for local high school, community college or W&M students. The tutor list is a service to the community and any tutoring arrangements are made exclusively between the tutor and the student needing tutoring.
