"Evaluation of Healthy Lifestyle Group on Indicators of Metabolic Syndrome with Persons Receiving Second-Generation Antipsychotic Medication"
The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of a Healthy Lifestyle Group on indicators of metabolic syndrome. The group is based on cognitive/behavioral principles, and all participants are currently taking a second generation antipsychotic medication. The research design will help determine whether there is a change in dependent variable scores as a function of participating in the Healthy Lifestyle Group. The dependent variables include (a) weight, (b) blood pressure, (c) body mass index, (d) waist circumference, (e) fasting glucose, (f) fasting lipids, and (g) a knowledge and attitude survey.
