Daniel Posthumus ‘24, a senior 1693 Scholar and government & economics major, was recently awarded the prestigious Ann Callahan Chappell Award. This award, named for alumna Ann C. Chappell, is given to the year’s most outstanding initiate to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
The 1693 Scholars Program is a Charles Center program that awards select students with research funding, cohort-building opportunities, and a four-year tuition scholarship.
In addition to being a 1693 Scholar, Posthumus also participated in the 2021-2022 Sharp Journalism Seminar, where he traveled to Iowa City, Iowa, to report on the city’s efforts to institute a Truth & Reconciliation Commission. He is currently completing an honors thesis in economics entitled, “Starting Early: Returns on Kindergarten Attendance in Indonesia.”
