2017 Boswell Initiative
In addition to sponsoring the 2017 John Boswell Lecture, the Boswell Initiative helped to convene events April 13-14 dealing with queer oral histories.
Professor Marcia Gallo, of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, gave a public lecture titled "When We Were Outlaws: Race, Place, and Memory in Queer Oral History."
The following day featured an open, morning workshop for students and faculty engaged in the work of oral history. A lunch session followed, with undergraduate students presenting the oral histories they are uncovering through the LGBTIQ Research Project at William & Mary. Professor Gallo led a discussion and comment session on the various work projects.
