Guidelines & How to Submit Events
Events featured in the Arts at W&M Events Calendar are:
- Sponsored or co-sponsored by a W&M academic unit.
- Public or semi-public.
- A departmental brown-bag that welcomes all may be included.
- A lecture open only to majors may not.
- Geographically accessible to Williamsburg.
- On-campus, near-campus, or live-streamed events should be included.
- Events taking place within a reasonable driving distance (Hampton Roads, Richmond, even D.C.) might be included.
- Events taking place beyond our immediate region may be included on a case-by-case basis.
How to Submit an Event
Everyone at W&M can create and recommend an event to the Arts at W&M Event Calendar.
- Go to events.wm.edu.
- Click "Create Event" in the upper right.
- Log in using your normal W&M credentials.
- Fill in the relevant fields to create your event.
- At the beginning of the event's title, include one or two words that describe the genre and mode of the event.

- Art
- Music
- Film
- Dance
- Theatre
- Poetry
- Literature
- Fiction
- Some mode suggestions:
- Exhibit
- Concert
- Screening
- Lecture
- Workshop
- Performance
- Reading
- Some genre suggestions:
- To visually associate your event with the Year of the Arts, feel free to use one of the pre-loaded branded images for your event. When selecting an image for your event, simply search "year of the arts" and select from one of the provided images.
- The last step in creating an event is to recommend it to appropriate calendars. Be sure to select the "Arts at W&M" calendar when recommending your event. Your event will automatically populate on the Arts at W&M calendar and appear on the Year of the Arts homepage.
