Advising for Pre-Majors
At William & Mary, you typically declare your major in the spring semester of your sophomore year. If you are considering a degree in Art & Art History, you should take a few courses to get familiar with our program and to take care of some prerequisites. Details:
Advising for Majors
When you declare your major in Art & Art History, you choose one of two concentrations: Studio Art or Art History. Choose your major advisor based on your concentration. Any full-time faculty member can serve as your major advisor. Details:
You may ask your advisor to assist you in identifying and applying for study abroad programs, internships, research grants, and scholarships.
Minors
Minors in Art & Art History do not need to have an Art & Art History advisor. To declare your minor, complete the Declaration of Academic Minor [pdf] form and have it signed by the Chair of Art & Art History before you return it to the Registrar's Office. If you have questions, feel free to approach one of your professors for advice.
