Professor Santiago holds a BFA in Studio Art from Indiana University and an MFA in Painting from the University of New Hampshire. Since arriving at William & Mary in 2006, she has taught a variety of studio courses, with Life Drawing and Composition & Color being the most frequently taught.
Professor Santiago maintains an active studio practice, exhibiting in over 100 exhibitions in the past 15 years. In her works, Santiago depicts semi-autobiographical, domestic scenes that suggest internal, familial narratives, resulting in quiet images, with simple yet layered storylines. And while storytelling is an integral component of Santiago’s work, it remains subservient to the broader formal concerns.
