Professor Gaynes received his BA from Antioch College and his MFA from the University at Albany.
At William & Mary, Professor Gaynes has served as a faculty fellow on the CLA and has been an enthusiastic champion of the Coll curriculum. He teaches interdisciplinary courses in sculpture focusing on concepts of time and memory, force and motion, embodiment and the nature of the self.
His research interests (at this moment) revolve around data and pattern, automated musical instruments and looms. And space dogs.
